Pakistan's parliament passed a resolution calling for the overturning of the death sentence of former PM and PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, executed in 1979. The resolution followed the Supreme Court's unanimous opinion that Bhutto did not receive a fair trial under Gen Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq's military regime. The National Assembly resolution recognized Bhutto's trial and conviction as a "gross miscarriage of justice."
