Pakistan's Supreme Court rules 1979 Bhutto trial under martial law lacked due process and fair trial.

Pakistan's Supreme Court has ruled that the 1979 trial and execution of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, conducted under martial law, lacked due process and fair trial. The court, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, determined that Bhutto did not receive a fair trial and that the transgressions destroyed any semblance of due process and fair trial. The court criticized the trial and appellate courts, stating that they were not "true courts" under the constitution and operated under General Zia-ul-Haq's control.
