1 in 3 drivers admit to middle lane hogging on motorways, per a National Highways survey.

One in three drivers admit to hogging the middle lane on motorways, a National Highways survey reveals. Almost a third of those polled said they do this at least "occasionally", with 5% confessing to "always" doing so. The Highway Code states that drivers on motorways and dual carriageways should use the left lane unless they are overtaking. Both middle lane hogging and tailgating can be prosecuted as careless driving, with fines and penalty points at stake. A new National Highways campaign aims to highlight the dangers of these driving habits.
