A one-legged, drug-addicted robber, Jelanie Scott, 36, attempted to steal cash from Hyson Green Post Office in Nottingham on February 10 using a metal spoon. Staff activated a panic alarm and the security smoke system, causing Scott to flee. He was caught nine days later and admitted to the crime. Scott was sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates Court to a six-month drug rehabilitation program, a £50 fine, a £114 victim surcharge, and £85 court costs.
