South Portland police officer justified in shooting and killing Christafer Dodge.

Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey ruled a South Portland police officer was justified in shooting and killing 47-year-old Christafer Dodge during an armed confrontation at a South Portland apartment complex on August 25, 2023. Officers were responding to a domestic violence call with reports of shots fired when Dodge, who had an AR-style rifle, pointed it at officers while still seated in his pickup truck. Officer Anthony Verville shot Dodge, who died at the scene. An AR-style rifle was found next to him in the truck.
