Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Trade Chamber proposes special permits for truck drivers to ease trade after transit gate closure.

The Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Trade Chamber has proposed issuing special permits for truck drivers to facilitate and streamline trade between the two countries. This comes after Pakistan closed all its transit gates to Afghan trucks on January 12 and reopened them on January 23 following bilateral negotiations. Around 1,000 truck drivers would receive special passes instead of visas to transport goods between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Trucks must still be registered with customs and transport offices in both countries, and a nominal fee will be charged for the special permits.
