Teen sentenced to probation for racially motivated attack that attempted to drown a peer.

A 15-year-old Chatham teenager, John Sheeran, was sentenced to three years of probation for attempting to drown a Black peer in a pond, which was racially motivated. Sheeran pleaded guilty to attempted murder and assault with a dangerous weapon. He must complete over 700 hours of community service, write an apology letter to the victim, and avoid contact with the victim. If re-arrested before 2028, he could face prison time.
