Passenger arrested for smuggling five endangered Siamang Gibbons at Mumbai airport, with two surviving.

A passenger at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport was caught smuggling five endangered Siamang Gibbons, with three already dead and two critically ill. The gibbons were hidden in plastic boxes within trolley bags. The passenger, Abdul Rahman Ahamed, was arrested and handed to the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau. The surviving gibbons will be stabilized and returned to their country of origin. This incident occurred separately from the recent arrest of three Ugandan nationals for smuggling cocaine.
