The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 781 Bengal monitor lizard hemipenes and 19.6 kg of soft corals, both listed under Schedule-I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, near Nashik, Maharashtra. DRI officers from Mumbai laid a trap for the traffickers, apprehending the individual in a tribal hamlet despite his evasive maneuvers. The trafficker initially called buyers to Nandagaon railway station but kept changing locations.
