Study reveals white trauma patients are airlifted at much higher rates than minority groups with similar injuries.

A study in JAMA Surgery shows racial disparities in helicopter transport for trauma patients. White patients were airlifted at a rate of 22%, compared to 7% for Asians, 9% for Blacks, and 11% for Hispanics, even with similar injuries. Researchers recommend better paramedic training and unbiased triage tools to improve equitable access to air ambulances.
