A 76-year-old skier died after colliding with a tree on a challenging trail at Mt. Ashland.

A 76-year-old skier died after hitting a tree on the challenging Windsor Chairline trail at Mt. Ashland Ski Area. Despite wearing a helmet and receiving immediate assistance from ski patrol, Ashland Fire and Rescue, and a Mercy Flights helicopter, the man was pronounced dead at the ski area's medical facility. Mt. Ashland's General Manager, Andrew Gast, expressed sorrow and gratitude to the rescue teams. The ski area operates under a permit from the U.S. Forest Service.
