Study shows a widening gap in internship access between working-class and middle-class graduates.

The Sutton Trust reports a growing gap in internship access between working-class and middle-class graduates, with 36% of working-class graduates completing internships compared to 55% of their middle-class peers. Issues include employers underpaying interns and favoring family or friends over advertising opportunities. Around three-fifths of internships are unpaid or underpaid, with nearly one in four paying less than the minimum wage. The Trust calls for a ban on unpaid internships and better enforcement of wage laws.
