Armed man threatening Florence Police Department was fatally shot by officers after opening fire; no officers hurt.

On Wednesday night around 5:30 p.m., an armed man who called 911 threatening to "shoot up" the Florence Police Department was fatally shot by officers after firing at them in the department's parking lot. No officers were injured, and the community faces no ongoing threat. The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
