Sri Lanka lowers taxes on cement and rock boulders, boosts benefits for poorest households.

In Sri Lanka, the Committee on Public Finance has approved lowering the CESS tax on cement, which will reduce the price of a bag of cement by about Rs. 100. The committee also increased benefits for the Aswesuma program, raising allowances for extremely poor households. Additionally, the tax on exporting rock boulders used in the Hambantota Port construction was reduced.
