Sri Lanka's Public Utilities Commission (PUCSL) has approved a 21.9% reduction in electricity tariffs, effective midnight. The decision comes after a thorough review of proposals and cost data submitted by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB). The tariff reduction varies across user categories: below 30 units by 33%, between 61-90 units by 30%, and general-purpose users by 23%. Tariffs for hotels and industrial sectors will drop by 18%, street lamps by 20%, and State institutions by 22%.
