In 2024, the number of injured Irish police officers (gardaí) on duty dropped by 19%, with about one in 25 frontline officers experiencing physical harm. Assaults caused more than half of the injuries, including three officers hurt during clashes with anti-immigration protesters. Kerry had the highest injury rate at 12%. Other common causes of injury included road traffic collisions, slips, and falls.
