12% increase in hate crimes and incidents reported to Gardaí in Ireland in 2023 with 651 incidents recorded, up from 582 in 2022. The most common motives were anti-race (36%), anti-nationality (18%) and anti-sexual orientation (16%). Public order incidents accounted for 27% of the cases, followed by minor assaults at 16%. Gardaí have over 500 diversity officers working across the country to support victims and address concerns in minority communities.
