Elk freed from 10-pound metal stool in New Mexico after tranquilization by wildlife officials.

On New Year's Day in Ruidoso, New Mexico, a cow elk was freed from a 10-pound metal stool stuck around its neck. The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish tranquilized the elk and removed the stool. Despite online questions about not capturing the elk, officials decided to release it because it could move, eat, and drink. Lincoln County Sheriff Michael Wood said the elk is expected to recover after resting off the tranquilizer.
