Wildlife officials and climbers rescued an elk entangled in rope, highlighting risks to wildlife.

In a joint effort, Colorado wildlife officials and ice climbers rescued a bull elk entangled in a rope at a climbing site in Lake City. A CPW biologist tranquilized the elk, and the climbers helped rig a system to safely lower the animal. Once on flat ground, the tranquilizer was reversed, and the elk woke up and ran off. The incident highlights the dangers posed to wildlife by human-made hazards.
