Perth's Road Safety Commissioner denies claims that new high-tech cameras are revenue-driven, not safety-focused.

The Road Safety Commissioner of Perth, Adrian Warner, has refuted claims that new high-tech cameras on Western Australian roads are used to raise revenue. Leased for $22 million over five years, these cameras detect phone use and seatbelt violations to improve road safety. During a trial, one camera on the Kwinana Freeway caught over 6,300 drivers using their phones and 5,100 not wearing seatbelts.
