10,319 mobile phone fines issued in South Australia's first month using detection cameras.

In South Australia, mobile phone detection cameras have issued 10,319 fines in their first month of operation, following a grace period. Each violation results in a $658 fine and three demerit points. The cameras aim to improve road safety, and while mobile phone usage has decreased, 80 drivers may face license loss for accumulating 12 or more points. Currently, cameras are located at five sites, with two more planned for early 2025.
