Australian petrol prices soar, with Canberra paying the most at nearly $2 per liter, NRMA reports.

Australian motorists are facing higher petrol costs due to longer price cycles where prices rise quickly but fall slowly. According to the NRMA, the average price of regular unleaded petrol has risen by almost a third since 2017. Canberra has the highest prices at 196.3 cents per litre, while Perth remains the cheapest at 181.4 cents. The NRMA calls for an ACCC investigation, suggesting artificially inflated prices negatively impact consumers and the economy.
