Tasmanian police clamp down on speeding and drunk driving, arresting several on Christmas Day.

On Christmas Day, Tasmanian police caught two P-plate drivers speeding over 45 km/h above the limit on the Bass Highway, clamping their vehicles for 28 days and facing license suspensions and fines. A 44-year-old woman was also arrested for driving with a blood alcohol level over five times the legal limit, resulting in a 12-month license ban. These arrests are part of Operation Safe Arrival, aimed at highway safety during the holiday period.
