Cheshire High School investigated a gun threat; a cell phone was mistaken for a handgun.

Cheshire High School had an increased police presence on Tuesday after a student reported seeing another student with what appeared to be a handgun in a bathroom on Friday. Cheshire Police investigated, reviewed video surveillance, and interviewed eight students but found no evidence of a weapon. A cell phone in a protective case was mistaken for a handgun. The school will retrain staff on reporting safety concerns.
