Jihadist group JNIM expands into Ghana, setting up bases and recruiting children in conflict zones.

Ghana is becoming a hideout and smuggling route for the al-Qaeda-linked jihadist group JNIM, which has expanded from Burkina Faso. More than 15,000 people have fled into Ghana to escape conflict. A freed captive reported that the group has set up bases in northern Ghana, recruiting and training children. The Ghanaian government is working to prevent radicalization, with a public campaign and international aid including security equipment.
