New Zealand woman sues over facial recognition error that wrongly labeled her a shoplifter.

A New Zealand woman, Te-Ani Solomon, is taking legal action after being wrongly identified as a shoplifter by facial recognition technology at a supermarket. Foodstuffs, the supermarket chain, claims the technology reduced serious harm in trial stores by 16%, but Solomon argues it is discriminatory. The technology misidentified nine people during a six-month trial in 25 stores. Foodstuffs will continue using the technology in these stores but will not expand its use further.
