Ethnic Slovak naive paintings from Serbia's Kovacica village are now part of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list.
Ethnic Slovak naive paintings from Serbia's Kovacica village have been added to UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage. Originating in 1939 with self-taught farmers Martin Paluska and Jan Sokol, the art depicts everyday scenes with childlike simplicity and bright colors. The Kovacica Gallery, established in 1955, showcases works by nearly 50 artists and attracts about 20,000 visitors annually, preserving the cultural heritage of the Slovak community in Serbia.
