India's Supreme Court demands details from DUSIB on homeless shelters as winter approaches.

The Supreme Court in India is pressing the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) for details on shelter facilities for the homeless as winter approaches. Concerned about the adequacy of shelter homes, the court asked DUSIB to provide the number of people these homes can accommodate and an estimate of those needing shelter. DUSIB must also address any shortfall in facilities and file an affidavit with the required information. The court noted that Delhi's shelter homes have a capacity of about 17,000, but some have been demolished or destroyed by floods, leaving many without shelter.
