14 deaths have been reported at Asha Kiran, a Delhi government-run shelter home for the mentally challenged, in July. The shelter home, located in Rohini, has faced criticism from opposition parties and the National Commission for Women (NCM) for overcrowding, contaminated food, and neglect. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered to investigate the deaths and improve conditions at similar homes.
