Australian baby Alexis gained citizenship after a public plea and senator's help, allowing her family to fly home.

6-week-old Alexis McCann received Australian citizenship after her parents' plea for help was published in The Canberra Times and Senator David Pocock intervened. Born to a surrogate mother in Colombia, Alexis and her family had been stuck in a hotel in Bogota for over a month waiting for citizenship paperwork. With a flight to Australia booked, the family now awaits processing of Alexis' passport. The surrogacy cost the family $88,000, plus $7,500 for the return flight.
