UK approves first co-operative train service, Go-op, to run in southwest England starting 2026.

The UK rail regulator has approved the launch of Go-op, a co-operatively owned train service, marking a first for the UK. Go-op plans to run services between Taunton and Weston-super-Mare, Taunton and Westbury, Taunton and Swindon, and Frome and Westbury, competing with Great Western Railway. The new service must begin by December 2026 and must first prove its financial stability and rolling stock readiness.
