BC and nine other Canadian provinces will conduct an emergency alert system test on Nov. 20.

On November 20 at 1:55 p.m., Emergency Management BC will conduct a test of the emergency alert system, sending a message and tone to devices and stations. The message will state it's a test and no action is required. Residents are reminded not to call 911 during the test to avoid delaying emergency calls. This test will also occur in Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, and the Yukon. In 2024, B.C. has issued 13 alerts mainly due to wildfires and flooding, with one Amber Alert.
