The EU recorded a 2.6% drop in greenhouse gas emissions in Q2 2024, despite a 1% GDP growth.

In the second quarter of 2024, the EU saw a 2.6% drop in greenhouse gas emissions to 790 million tonnes of CO2-equivalents, alongside a 1% GDP increase. Bulgaria had the second-largest emission reduction at 6.3%, following the Netherlands' 9.1% drop. Despite this, Luxembourg saw a 1.8% rise in emissions. Across the EU, sectors like electricity supply and households saw the most significant emission decreases.
