Dr. Thomas Shaknovsky, a Florida-based physician, has had his Alabama medical license temporarily suspended after allegedly removing the wrong organ during surgery, resulting in the death of 70-year-old William Bryan. Intended to perform a splenectomy, Shaknovsky mistakenly removed Bryan's liver at Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast Hospital. The Alabama Medical Licensure Commission will hold a hearing on December 18 to decide on potential permanent revocation of his license.
