Kendra Luckow, an ecoguardian at Race Rocks Marine Protected Area near Vancouver Island, discovered a mysterious skeleton with numerous teeth on October 26. While public speculation ranged from lingcod to alien-like creatures, Maria Cornthwaite from Fisheries and Oceans Canada suggested it may be a ghostly or rough abyssal grenadier, both deep-water fish. Luckow credited her role to funding from Pearson College faculty and volunteers, appreciating the engagement her find generated.
