Senator Mobina Jaffer testified Canadian officials requested detention of Abdelrazik, found no terrorism ties in Sudan, and were urged to take him back.

Former Canadian Senator Mobina Jaffer testified in a civil trial concerning Abousfian Abdelrazik, who is suing the Canadian government for $27 million over his alleged detention and torture in Sudan. During her 2004 meeting with Sudan's intelligence director Salah Gosh, Jaffer learned that Canadian officials had requested Abdelrazik's detention based on terrorism suspicions. Gosh stated Sudan found no evidence of such ties and urged Canada to take him back.
