BC Supreme Court awards Noll Grenfal $60,000 for police dog bite during non-imminent threat arrest in 2020.

Noll Grenfal of Chilliwack, B.C., was awarded $60,000 by the B.C. Supreme Court after being bitten by a police dog during a domestic assault arrest in March 2020. The court found that the officer made an error by releasing the dog when there was no imminent threat, although Grenfal's testimony was deemed unreliable. The damages included $40,000 for non-pecuniary losses and $20,000 for past income loss.
