ASEAN+3 growth forecast revised to 4.2% in 2024, citing lower projections for China and Vietnam due to Typhoon Yagi.

The ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) has revised its growth forecast for the ASEAN+3 region to 4.2% in 2024, down from 4.4%. This adjustment reflects lower projections for China and Vietnam, impacted by Typhoon Yagi. Despite the downgrade, growth is expected to rise to 4.4% in 2025, driven by trade, tourism, and resilient domestic demand. However, AMRO cautions about increasing external and geopolitical uncertainties that could affect stability.
