Moana Tuwhare has been appointed general manager of Te Rūnanga-ā-Iwi o Ngāpuhi, New Zealand's largest iwi with over 165,000 members. Her priorities include strengthening the relationship between Ngāpuhi and the government in line with Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and enhancing trust among hapū through a potential shift to a hapū-focused representation system. Tuwhare, a former Treaty lawyer, aims to empower Ngāpuhi's communities amid recent organizational restructuring.
