Assam Chief Minister calls for ULFA-I to abandon violence for peace talks to benefit Assam's development.

On International Day of Peace, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urged armed groups, especially ULFA (Independent), to abandon violence and engage in dialogue for the state’s development. He highlighted that peace talks are essential for Assam's progress, while violence hampers growth. Although various insurgent factions have signed peace agreements, ULFA-I has yet to negotiate. Sarma emphasized the importance of a peaceful resolution for the future of Assam's youth.
