Police dog Zoe has retired after suffering a leg injury during violent unrest in Southport on July 30, which followed a knife attack that killed three girls and injured over 50 police officers. Mersey Police Dogs reported that Zoe is now "fit and well," but will not be required to perform duties if she no longer wishes to. Other police dogs, including Ike and Quga, were also injured but are recovering. Mersey Police Dogs commended the bravery of all involved.
