A York police officer shot two aggressive German Shepherds during an investigation of a pistol-whipping incident. While searching a residence, the officer was bitten three times on his right leg and subsequently hospitalized. The officer fired at the dogs as they charged at him. The police commissioner expressed regret over the incident and plans to support the affected family and officers. The status of the surviving dog is unknown.
