Ireland's housing charity Threshold has urged the government to double its social and cost-rental housing stock to combat the ongoing housing crisis. Speaking at the "Changing Our Housing System" conference, they noted that current social housing makes up only 9% of total stock, recommending an increase to 20%. They also suggested implementing a Residential Zoned Land Tax (RZLT) to lower housing costs and improve access, drawing inspiration from successful housing models in Northern Europe.
