EU Chief appoints Raffaele Fitto, Brothers of Italy party member, as VP for EU recovery fund, pending confirmation.

EU Chief Ursula von der Leyen is set to appoint Raffaele Fitto, a member of Italy's far-right Brothers of Italy party, as Vice-President for the economy and post-pandemic recovery. Fitto, currently Rome's Minister for European Affairs, will manage the EU’s substantial recovery fund. Other nominated Vice-Presidents include Valdis Dombrovskis from Latvia, Thierry Breton from France, and Teresa Ribera from Spain, pending confirmation hearings in the European Parliament.
