1,411 racially-motivated incidents were reported to Northern Ireland's Police Service in the 12 months ending June, a 144% increase from the previous year and the highest since records began in 2004. Of the 891 recorded crimes, around 500 involved violence against a person. Amnesty International's regional director, Patrick Corrigan, calls for consistent police response, political leadership, and effective government strategies to tackle racism in Northern Ireland.
