California deployed its first C-130H wildfire-fighting aircraft, becoming the first state to do so.

California has deployed its first C-130 Hercules aircraft, specifically designed for wildfire fighting, making it the first state to own, operate, and deploy such an aircraft. The state plans to retrofit and deploy seven of these aircraft, with the first one now operational. The C-130H has a range of 800 miles and can carry 4,000 gallons of fire retardant, making it the fastest and most far-reaching aircraft in Cal Fire's airborne fleet. This initiative aims to improve California's firefighting capabilities and protect its communities from wildfires.
