The Honolulu Fire Department has added a $10.6 million twin-engine Bell 429 helicopter to improve its wildfire response and rescue operations. This advanced aircraft can carry nearly three times more water than older models, features enhanced stability, and can reach remote areas efficiently. Training will commence soon, with operations expected to start by June. The investment aims to bolster emergency response capabilities and reduce long-term maintenance costs.
