The government will require automakers to identify batteries used in their electric vehicles and implement stricter safety measures, such as installing wet pipe sprinkler systems in underground parking spaces with EV charging stations and expanding chargers that prevent overcharging. The decision follows a recent fire in a Mercedes-Benz EV with Farasis Energy batteries, which caused widespread damage and panic.
