Bernalillo County in New Mexico is set to launch an automated speed enforcement program on Sept 25, after a 30-day warning period. The program involves installing 10 speed cameras on roads with high crash rates. Drivers caught speeding will face a $100 citation or $25 fine and four hours of community service. The cameras will be located in areas with high accident rates, based on data from the Mid-Region Council of Governments. The program is modelled after Albuquerque's speed camera ordinance, which has already installed 20 cameras.
