Trinidad and Tobago refloated an overturned oil barge causing an oil spill in February.
Trinidad and Tobago successfully refloated an overturned oil barge that caused an oil spill off the coast of Tobago in February. The vessel, now afloat, will undergo an underwater survey before being towed to Port-of-Spain for further inspection. The oil spill, which had stopped in March, had caused damage to mangroves and threatened the island's tourism and fishing industries. Authorities are yet to identify those responsible for the incident.
